The business was started in 1985 in Chicago by two brothers, Shyam & Ram Baheti, initially as a glove distributor. In 1989, they moved to Cleveland, Ohio to become the first distributor of hobby tools in the Midwest. In 1997, Hawk Importers Inc. continued to expand by moving their headquarters to Long Beach, California, the main gateway for the US-Asian trade segment, and subsequently created a showroom for their vastly expanding product line.
